Hey everyone! I'm back! Hope you're all doing well. Life's been great. I've been really busy with acting lately-lots of classes, interviews (castings), and jobs. This time of year in L.A. is called "Pilot Season" which means lots of new shows scheduled for next fall are casting for roles for upcoming 'pilot' or first shows. Keeping my fingers crossed...but for the important stuff...MUSIC...I'm thankfully completely slammed. It seems that, between my label and you guys, I'll be heading into the studio soon to cut some stuff that's a little different from my first CD. How, you ask? Well-if you had to put a label on it-I'd say it's more Cheryl Crow than Faith hill. Replace the fiddle with a Stratocaster. Some loops underneath it. Definitely rockier and edgier. Songs with a little more edge. A little more experimental-yet focused. Everything I learned through the experience of my debut can be applied-great harmonies (love 'em)- a great band-and most importantly-GREAT SONGS!. What's really great is this new direction will be really fun to play live-and my favorites from the first CD will be at home, given an edgier musical treatment, right there alongside my new stuff. I'm really excited and I can't wait to finish recording so I can play more in America. Well-that's about all for now-I'm in the studio writing a new song and I'm about halfway there so I better jump on it. Until the next time stay well, have fun, and BELIEVE! All my Love! Yvette |
Hey
everyone!!!
Thank you sooo much for all the Birthday wishes! I have to say this Birthday was probably the best ever! Matthew (my husband) surprised me with a last minute trip to our favorite hotel in Maui, Hawaii! WOW. Was that the most amazing vacation ever. Everything went our way- the weather, our adventures, and the food was awesome. But the single most important thing was that I got a chance to spend "alone time" with my husband in paradise and we fell even more in love with each other. I'm here to tell ya that it is possible to be with the same person for 10 years and still be head over heels in love with them and find even more in that person to appreciate as time goes on. We're definately closer now than ever before. Another cool thing that happened that you animal lovers out there could appreciate was that I personally got the chance to rescue a "wild dog" living behind my house. The neighbors swore the dog couldn't be rescued and that it was "wild"- but I didn't buy it considering he was wearing a collar with tags on it. He was on his last leg (truly skin and bones) and I tried for 2 weeks to get him to trust me by feeding him twice a day (which was a task because his spot was above our house on an overgrown hillside- somedays it seemed I was out to summit Mt. Everest with a bag of dogfood and a bottle of water!) but it didn't work- he was always too scared to let me approach him. And as the days went on it became obvious my neighbors thought I was nuts. I was a little obsessed because I knew the coyotes in our area would kill him soon for sure- I knew I needed to do something fast. I found a humane cage trap through a local charity (Actors and Others for Animals) and 2 days later I was surprised to find him in the cage sleeping. It turns out this "wild dog" was actually a very loved missing pet. I called the owner's number on the dog's tag and after screening her responses to some questions realized she was devastated and heartbroken at the loss of her dog. The dog was 30 miles from home and had been missing for- get this- 6 months and fending for itself alone in the Hollywood Hills. There is nothing I can say to describe the feeling I got when I saw the dog's reaction when the owner came to pick her dog up after so long. I highly reccommend getting involved with helping animals even one at a time. My story proves that you CAN make a difference all by yourself. A very happy ending for all... Good
news on the music front- the RMG/Transcontinental recording agreement has
all been signed and I'm currently hard at work preparing for my European
release- I'll keep you posted as soon as the news breaks, of course!
All
my love

-05.06.01- Hey everyone! It's time for yet another installment of The Yvette Nelson Story...I hope you're well and in good spirits! Because I have really good news to share... I GOT A RECORD DEAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY !!!!!!!!!! I was gonna save the best for last but I couldn't wait :) "All For The Sake Of Love" will be coming out in Europe very soon...within the next 3 months or so...as a joint venture between Transcontinental Records (Lou Pearlman's company...you might recognize him from the "Making The Band" TV show and as creator/benefactor of Back Street Boys/'NSYNC) and The Ritz Music Group (RMG)- they're the biggest independently owned entertainment company in Europe- based in London and headed by impresario Ron Winter. I'll be shooting for a fall tour in the UK and EU, and a video shoot is first on my list to help RMG and Transcon market my project. It's all so exciting after so long a wait! Thanks for believing in me and hanging in there...soon you'll be able to say, hopefully, that you were there from the beginning... :)! Sometimes with joy comes sadness, and in my case that holds true, unfortunately. I received the terrible news that an old friend who once was very important to me chose to take his own life. I'm still dealing with the finality of that situation and have decided to handle it through art...I'm actually writing my first songs and expressing my feelings through the music. I'll keep you posted on their progress...but thank God for music. So much has been keeping me busy lately...the record deal situation...acting classes...home remodeling (almost almost done :))...shooting photos for my website and other clients...but I have to say that I AM LOVING LIFE right now! I hope you are too! I'm off on a journey/vacation in the morning...a drive up the California coast with my family so I'd better get some rest. Until next time, thanks for believing and take care! Love Always

Hello everyone!! Happy Valentine's Day! I hope this holiday finds you in the company of your true love... and if not then I hope they're right around the corner... :) Thanks for the great messages and kind wishes you've left for me on my message board! They're always such an inspiration. Keep 'em coming! I've been really busy lately with work. I just shot another Flirt Lingerie catalog in LA and have been in the process of shooting new pictures for my new 'card' (a promotional compilation of photos for my agencies to send prospective clients) as well as for my new website which will come online sometime in March... YvetteNelson.com... I've also been taking up acting starting with 2 classes (different coaches) so my free time will indeed be precious for awhile. They both have a reputation of being very tough on their students- so I expect my classes to be really difficult but in the end very rewarding. I'll keep you posted...I just booked a guest starring role on a sitcom that shoots next week- I'll let you know when and where it will air... I've also been in physical training, working out daily with a trainer that is really whipping me into shape. I just thought I would like to learn how to workout properly after all this time- the problem now is that I HAVE TOOOO MUCH ENERGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) The music (Country) is going well...I'm being considered by a label in Nashville at the moment (can't name names... I'm a little supersticious :)) but for the most it's a strange time in Nashville at the moment. The whole town is "downsizing" and it is now harder than ever to get a shot there. I decided that while the Nashville situation plays itself out I might as well throw another iron in the proverbial fire and also cut some songs for another format that I really love. Think Madonna as of late and that's what I'll be going for. I have some friends on the East coast that are extremely successful in the Pop world and I plan on going there soon to get things started. My manager's strength is in the Pop field so that can't help but be a plus for me. Yes, it's a process... but a challenge i'm really looking forward to. I just am a little tired of waiting around and I really am dying to get back into the studio to get creative... I'll keep you posted of course as to my progress. Well, until next time, thanks again for your belief and support!! Take care of yourself and I'll be writing again soon... All my love,

Happy New Year everyone! I Hope you all had a great holiday season! It was my first in our new house and it was so nice there we couldn't leave! I just relaxed, spent time with family and friends, and got in a little guitar practice... Man I wish the songs on my album were a little easier to learn. I was actually busier then usual workwise recently. The "business" Usually comes to a screeching halt by DEC. 20th but I was fortunate to fall into some cool projects: Photo shoots,Catalogs, another cigarette campaign, and I guest starred in another movie Which was fun. If you remember the West cigarette campaign I did for Germany a little while back-they started airing in Europe and I got a call that the posters & billboards are everywhere and the commercials are running before movies in theatres! Well, because of West's exposure for me there's interest in my album from European labels and I'm thinking of going to Germany soon to secure a deal. I've made a couple of New Year's resolution's (Haven't we all!) I'd like to make you aware of. The first is my focus this year is also persuing an acting career (haven't given up on my music, don't worry!) I already have a very respected new coach and will be in class starting this month, as well as auditioning and finding a new theatrical agency. Not only will it serve to help my music career along by affording me more exposure, but I can "run lines" with Matthew, who's also starting to seriously take up acting. I've never seen him so into anything. He definitely sees his future in acting and I think he's gonna be extremely successful. A second resolution is that I'm starting a new site:www.yvettenelson.com. Which will be a "members only" site more guy related and much sexier and pretty much about my modeling world. I think a home page is up already-It's really gonna be great! Check it out soon! This site (yvettenelson.net) will be more music and acting related and a little more conservative. Something for everyone!! Well,I better close for now.I was just thinking about all the fantastic holiday messages and great response from the record and wanted to thank you & say "hi!" Until next time... Take care and all my love,

Wow. I can't believe how time flies...it's been way too long since my last entry. But here goes... Let's just say it's been an 'interesting' month. Lots of challenges. All personal. It started with a little physical drama- I wound up driving myself to the emergency room with some shattered glass in my elbow. Loss the feeling in my right arm for a day. Several days and doctors later I'm finally healing- (pretty well in fact..can hardly see the scar now). Next, my beautiful cat Homey, who we've had since he was born, vanished into thin air. Could be coyotes...maybe a catnapping...or he just decided on a change of scenery...I just really miss him. The feeling of 'not knowing' is what drives me insane, but I'm learning how to give up my "need to know" the hard way. I just hope he's still healthy and happy. Just when I thought I was out of the woods, I woke up to find my brand new car stolen from in front of my house. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!! I couldn't help but feel "what have I done to deserve this?" and all those bad Karma questions you ask yourself ... then I started thinking I'd better start looking at it differently and maybe find a lesson there somewhere. Maybe my angels were looking out for me...that sometimes things ARE blessings in disguise- no matter how bad they seem on the surface. I realized that my trip to the emergency room could've been for something much worse than my elbow. And my car wasn't stolen with myself or a loved one still in it (you never know in LA) and was insured. I still don't know the ending to the Homey story but it sure makes me appreciate even more those loved ones still in my life. That's what's truly important anyways. And to make things even more confusing...on the professional front things are slamming. There's been so much work in print and even film (I just shot a small part in a new John Travolta film) that I haven't had time to catch my breath yet. Musically I have refocused my energies on scoring a deal here in the states for my new CD and in Europe. I decided to book a couple of shows in the LA area in late November so stay tuned to my touring section. When the plans firm up I'll be sure to let you know. I really would love to see you there when I launch this thing live. Well until the next episode of "as the Yvette turns":), take care and God bless... All my love,

Hey Everyone! I hope life treating you well! First of all, I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the incredibly sweet anniversary wishes! WOW! 5 years! It's amazing to me that I've been inseparable from my husband for 8 years now and am still so incredibly in love- it's kind of like we've grown to be as one. We started our relationship as two fairly strong individuals and have become an undividable and powerful union- not really knowing where one ends and the other begins. Talk about finishing each other's sentences!!! We could write an entire novel together and never get up from the table!!! We're so much alike in so many ways. I really feel lucky to have found my soulmate at such a young age. When you find that special person I highly recommend marriage. After all, life is about experience- and there's nothing more incredible than sharing that experience with someone you really love- and on the way becoming each other's 'other half'. I only wish the same good fortune to everyone else. Okay- enough preaching! To fill you in on the latest buzz- the modeling is really booming. Lots of work lately- must be the Summer thing. Something in the air. Well it's really fun and I love the work- can't complain at all except that it does tend to sidetrack me from my primary love- the music. Rehearsals are going well- night rehearsals this week to get my show together. I know some of you are a little antsy regarding my show schedule but try to understand that my record is being shopped as we speak and that does take a little of my energy. Say a prayer for me because it's in the hands of some very influential people right now! I'll keep this one short so I can update you soon as to the progress of the 'shopping process'. Thanks again for all your great wishes and support! All My Love,

Hi Everyone!!! I hope y'all had a great 4th of July holiday- I sure did! (More on that later...) I feel like I've been on a 5 year vacation. Before the 4th of July, Matthew and I decided to check out for a while by DRIVING the 1,000 mile journey to visit Matt's mom in Santa Fe, New Mexico with Cheyenne as co-pilot, of course. There's nothing like a road trip to remind you how vast and beautiful this country is. Matthew and I spent the hours (and hours..) bonding with each other and helping each other focus on our future. We definitely had my game plan solidified by the time we got home... live shows are definitely the priority for me now. I am stepping up the process of getting my show together and I'm booking gigs around the LA area as we speak. I've been asked to perform a live showcase for the labels in Nashville sometime in October/November. Of course I'll fill you in as that develops. The modeling is going great at the same time. I just booked another campaign working for the West cigarette company from Germany, a catalog job for a large costume company, and another clothing company catalog job, and I just got a commercial for a hair products line in Spain. All of this is keeping me really busy lately but it's great to be working! Thanks for all the great messages in my guestbook and for your support! Until next time take care and enjoy the music! All my love

Hi everyone! Hello everyone! Yes, I'm still alive... I know it's been WAY too long, but I can explain. We moved out our old house (Moving is Hell) but didn't close escrow for awhile and found ourselves homeless for a time. Limbo is an interesting place to visit- but I definitely do not want to live there! To make a long story short we're finally in the new place and it is AWESOME!!! Well worth the hassle of the move and all that went along with it. Cheyenne and Lyric think they're in doggie heaven with all the trees and land- the y don't really know what to do with it all yet! There are so many critters here that I feel like Dr. Doolittle. I could do without the coyotes though- they make me a little nervous with the cats and all... It is really inspiring... Matt and I have begun to write together which has opened up yet another world of possibilities. For everyone who's interested in the progress of my new live band: we all know that Joey Cathcart (Matt's old friend and NELSON guitarist) is in on the project but we also have another Cathcart in on the mix- his younger sister Jenny. She is a fantastic singer and a welcome addition to the cast of characters. She sings all the 'chick' harmonies and it's really all starting to come together. We're turning up the wick on the live schedule- I had to postpone a few shows due to the move and really regret it so I'm makin' up for lost time. Shows VERY soon- promise. I'll do my best to make it worth your wait. I'll keep you posted of course. Until then I promise not to be such a stranger- and again- thanks for 'spreading the word' about my website and my new CD! All My Love

Hi everyone! YAYYYYYYY!!! We just bought a new house! My dream home- a very private little cottage on a huge woodsy lot in the hills of beautiful LA-plenty of room for the girls (Cheyenne and Lyric) to play...speaking of Cheyenne...we started her in "agility" classes with a national champion trainer. It's SO fun to watch her work and her coach says she's a natural! He said she needs to lean out a bit- guess Matt's been sneaking her pizza again...:) I'll keep you posted on any blue ribbons ... Lyric's right on her heels-she's starting advanced obedience training-but as far as the weight issue goes...forget about it! She'd need a couple of years of fasting to shake all the gourmet 'love' we've fed her! I guess you can get too much of a good thang... The music is cruisin' along...still after that elusive deal but have some serious interest at a very serious label in Nashville-of course I'll keep you posted. I do feel a little guilty because the whole house issue has been all encompassing-but now that we aren't homeless I'll get back on track. As far as the modeling goes ... how ironic to do a Guitar World Magazine photo spread in bikinis with guitars! Don't think I'll be hitting the stage like that but it WAS interesting...I'm also considering a job offer to fly to Australia for a shoot in about a week and a half. Part of me wants to go for the experience (never been there before) and the other part of me would miss home too much. But it's only five days so we'll see... Well, I'd better scoot to bed- I have a photo shoot again with Flirt Lingerie tomorrow early in the morning ... and I am NOT a morning person... Until next time "take care of yourself-and each other"...oh my God! I've really been watching too much Jerry Springer, haven't I?!?!? All my love always

Hello again everyone! First- I want to apologize for it being so long since I've written. It's been extra crazed around here. Last week we decided to put our house on the market (time for a change). We figured it'd take awhile so we'd have plenty of time to find a new house. Well, it sold in 4 days ( oops!) so we've been house hunting a lot. Don't really want to be homeless if we can help it! Band rehearsals are going great! Oh yeah- I wanted to let all you Nelson fans know that Joey Cathcart is playing guitar in my band. He's awesome as always and can't wait to play out live. We had a slower start than expected - we needed to build a new rehearsal studio unexpectedly. But the new place feels like magic will happen within its walls so I guess it's for the better! Wouldn't ya know that the modeling really took off this past week. I did 2 episodes of the Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno (little 'skits'- really hysterical and fun as always), an Italian magazine cover and a P.S. advertisement for breast cancer awareness (fortunately I'm healthy but I thought it was a good thing to contribute to). But don't think for a second that I'm losing focus on my musical dreams! Modeling pays the bills for now but music feeds my soul. It's my true passion as you know and eventually the time will come when I'll be consumed by the music and it alone will provide for me and my family - God willing! With your help I know I can't lose! And now for a progress report on the status of my new album... I've gotten so many wonderful comments from so many of you regarding "All For The Sake Of Love" that it's truly inspiring. THANK YOU!!! My manager tells me that there's serious interest from a couple of MAJOR labels my world could change with a phone call) but I've learned not to count my chickens before they hatch. It's definitely a process - one that I've had to learn about and understand. I am enjoying it but I can't wait for the day my music is available to everyone the world over. As a matter of fact I can't wait to travel to Europe, Asia, Australia (and of course all over America) playing my music live. The only thing I dread about Australia is having to leave my dogs/children Cheyenne and Lyric back in the US because the quarantine is so strict (6 months)! Speaking of Cheyenne - I'm enrolling her in agility class (that obstacle course you've seen on TV) she's so damn smart I have to send her to school! OK - I've rambled enough for now so I'd better sign off. God bless you all and stay healthy and happy! All my love,

Hello everyone! Welcome to my new "Diary" section where I'll be writing you weekly tokeep you posted on what's up with me. The last ten days or so have been a whirlwind of activity. Lots of photo shoots, a commercial, and rehearsals with my band at night. To name the shoots specifically - what a surprise! Mostly lingerie! First was Flirt lingerie where I got to work with a lot of my friends (Neriah Davis, Barbara Moore, and Tiffany Richardson). Next came Shirley of Hollywood, Ferris Lingerie, and Mona V. Lingerie. Another cool job was a cigarette campaign for west cigarettes- (billboards, posters, magazine ads and a commercial). It was a little scary at times considering I played a lion tamer in (full bondage gear)! And I had no idea the German crew was going to lock me in a cage with a whip in my hand and a HUGE male lion!! He was beautiful but totally freaked when they told me to swing my whip - For a second I thought I was going to wind up hamburger! Rehearsals are going awesome. I'll make sure to keep you posted on my upcoming shows - I can't wait to hit the stage! Oh yeah - And in case you haven't heard - Yay! My CD is now available!! Pick it up - I think you'll love it! I really put my heart and soul into it. Well, I guess that's it for now until next time - Thanks for everything And take care! Love,
